Every story, beautifully set.

Fanficly is a calm, ad-free place to read fanfiction from AO3. Discover new stories, keep a library that works offline, and pick up every story exactly where you left off, on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows.

Free. iPhone, iPad and Mac on the App Store; Windows 10 and 11 on the Microsoft Store.

One library, four screens.

I.

Read it your way.

Continuous scroll, chapter by chapter, or page by page like a book. On a wide window the pages pair up into a two-page spread, with the gutter sitting right where a spine would be.

Typography that bends to you

Themes from paper-white to sepia to true black. Five font families, and text size, line spacing, paragraph spacing, kerning and margins you can tune to the point. Save a whole setup as a profile and switch between them.

Your place, to the paragraph

Close the app mid-sentence and come back days later. Fanficly reopens the story where your eyes left it, and your library shows how far you’ve read in everything you’ve started.

Listen when you can’t look

Have any chapter read aloud with the voices already on your device. It follows along paragraph by paragraph, moves on to the next chapter by itself, and on iPhone keeps going from the lock screen.

III.

A library that stays put.

Save a work with one tap, star the ones you love, pin the important ones to the top, and sort it all into your own folders. Download stories to read on a plane, or export them as EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, PDF or HTML.

No account with us.
No server. No one watching.

There is no Fanficly account and no Fanficly server. No analytics, no ads, no crash reporters, no tracking of any kind. Your library, reading progress, stats and settings live on your device, and in your own iCloud if you turn on sync.

When you sign in to AO3, your password goes to AO3 and nowhere else. The only thing kept is AO3’s own session cookie, stored in your device’s secure keychain. The source code is public, so you don’t have to take our word for any of this.

Questions, answered.

What is Fanficly?

Fanficly is an ad-free app for reading fanfiction from Archive of Our Own (AO3). It searches the archive with live tag suggestions and its full set of filters, keeps a library you can read offline, remembers your place in every story down to the paragraph, and can read stories aloud with on-device voices.

Is Fanficly free?

Yes. Fanficly is free on the App Store and the Microsoft Store, and it has no ads.

Which devices does Fanficly run on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, Macs with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and PCs with Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11.

Do I need an AO3 account to use Fanficly?

No. Searching, reading, saving works, downloading them for offline reading, and following works and authors all work without an account. Signing in to AO3 is optional and adds your AO3 bookmarks, subscriptions and comments.

Can I read fanfiction offline?

Yes. Download a work and its chapters are saved on your device, so you can read it with no connection. You can also export a work as EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, PDF or HTML.

Will Fanficly tell me when a story updates?

Yes. Follow a work or an author and Fanficly checks for you, then sends a notification when a new chapter or a new work is posted. This needs no account.

Does Fanficly collect my data?

No. There is no Fanficly account or server, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your library, reading progress and settings stay on your device, and on Apple devices you can back them up to your own iCloud.

Is Fanficly affiliated with AO3?

No. Fanficly is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by AO3 or the Organization for Transformative Works. All works are hosted on and moderated by Archive of Our Own.
